From my extensive teaching experiences, I have learned how to accurately and efficiently assess a student's abilities, learning style, and weaknesses. This information must be discovered before the tutor can move on to instruction that is customized to fit the individual student's needs and preferred learning process. I hold a bachelor's degree in History with a minor in Political Science, as well as a master's degree in History with a focus on U.S. History. I earned both of these degrees at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have spent 6 years teaching AP History and Dual Credit U.S. History. I have had extensive experience teaching students of all levels and abilities, including both gifted students and those with special needs. Today, I teach U.S. History at an IB MYP middle school. I have over 11 years of experience teaching in a classroom setting. When it comes to tutoring, one of my greatest strengths is helping prepare my students for AP- and IB-level exams in History, Politics, Government, and Geography. When students use my techniques, I have found that they typically increase their grades significantly. When I'm not tutoring or teaching, I enjoy hiking, camping, and mountain biking.
